THE HEART OF ADDICTION CLASS
How to find inner peace, regain control, with Christ Driven Behavior
Course Objective: A new way of thinking about compulsive behaviors (addictions) and the emotions that drive them. Clarify addictions and their solutions from both a secular and spiritual aspect. All addictions serve an emotional purpose. What is that purpose? Understand addictions from a psychological perspective with emphasis on emotions and thinking. Offer an answer to the core question of “Why” we behave the way we do with respect to substance abuse and other behaviors. We will provide the chance for you to use this new understanding and the practical tools that flow from it, to take control of your life, with empowering, direct, healthy, high value behaviors, not the least of which is Christ Driven Behavior (CDB). This course if for all people, male, female, Atheist, Agnostic, Christians. This course is not just for alcohol or drugs but for any compulsive behavior (sex, porn, overeating, smoking, anger, gambling, controlling others, etc)!
Learn to Recognize the cause of our Displaced behaviors, Reframe the pros and cons and Replace them with high value, Direct healthy behaviors. Give you the tools to understand and master your hurts, hangups and habits.
This is a 7 week course.
Required books:
1. Bible
2. "The Heart of Addiction," by addiction Psychiatrist Lance Dodes, MD. Found on Amazon or any book store ($7-10). We should have half a dozen books available to buy the first night if you have not made a purchase.
